About Gunther Rohn
Moving from the Rep of South Africa in the early 70’s proved to be a decisive moment that would help shape Gunthers future in the surfboard industry.

Growing up and surfing in the Cape Town area created a drive to start shaping surfboards. With an influx of Australian surfers who also shaped there own boards, surfing and surfboard making soon became a passion. Australia was the hub of surfboard development so it wasn’t long before Gunther set sail.

Arriving in Australia in 72 was the start of a ride that has seen him become one of the worlds best shapers.Shaping boards for a myriad of pro surfers over the years has kept Gunthers boards at the forefront of modern surfing.

Traveling around the globe to Hawaii, Indo, Japan, USA, Europe, South Africa and the Pacific has kept him in touch with what surfers want and need from there boards. Working with different shapers and manufactuers has kept his finger on the trigger with the aspects of design, development and construction of surfboards.

It’s hard to think of another shaper that has had such continuity in the industry for such a continual period of time. None of this has come easy, It’s been through long hours and hard work in the bay. He is very hands on in his approach to it all. To this day this is his philosophy.
